Why won't my GSX 7/11 start??

Built my own project bike with 750 frame, 1100 engine. Got good spark, & a few backfires but it won't start. Changed the coils, but now suspect it may be the 1983 wiring loom that's to blame. Please help, it's driving me mental!!!!
