How can I host/organize a bone marrow drive in my area?

This year I will be a senior in high school, and I am required to complete a graduation project. I wanted to do something BIG that will potentially help someone in need, and couldn't think of anything better than to host a bone marrow drive. The cause is definitely close to my heart, after seeing firsthand how a positive donor match can save a life. I'm guessing i can either host the drive at my school, just like how we have blood drives every year, or perhaps the hospital. And I know theres LOTS of advertising to be done, to make sure of a great turnout and volunteers to help out. My main concern is who to get in touch with, in order to get the ball rolling. I live in North Carolina, so I'm not sure if there's a certain organization I should contact. Also, for my project I am required to have a mentor, to advise me, and help me along the way.
